Employment Contract Breach
A breach of employment contract consists of an employer failing to fulfill the terms outlined in an employment contract. This can include some of the following:
- Failing to provide promised benefits
- Failing to pay wages or bonuses
- Failing to accommodate a promised work schedule
A breach of employment contract can also occur if an employer fails to provide a safe and healthy work environment or discriminates against an employee based on their race, gender, age, or other protected characteristics.
Employment contractual breaches also encompass wrongful termination. While many states adhere to an at-will employment practice, wrongful termination can still occur if it breaches agreed-upon terms or violates a person’s civil rights.
